Health & Safety Is How We Work

Safety is not a slogan at Shewálh. It is the way every division runs, from a traffic control setup to a foundation pour. WorkSafeBC insured, a documented program, and field practices our crews follow every day.

Protecting Crews, Clients, and the Public

A safe site is a productive site. When crews are trained, equipped, and clear on the plan, the work goes faster and the job stays on schedule. Here is how we hold that standard.

What we do on every site

Our health and safety program applies across civil works, building, and traffic control. It is built on WorkSafeBC regulation and the Workers Compensation Act, and it lives in the field, not in a binder on a shelf.

Before the work starts

  • Site-specific safety plans written for the actual hazards of each project, not a generic copy.
  • Traffic Management Plans for any work affecting roads, prepared by our traffic control division.
  • Certification checks so every crew member on site holds the tickets the job requires.

During the work

  • Daily toolbox talks and hazard assessments before crews start each shift.
  • Correct PPE and equipment on every worker, every time, no exceptions.
  • Real-time incident and near-miss logging in the field through our OHS app, so issues get addressed the same day.

Backed by our own technology

Our OHS app puts exact WorkSafeBC guidance in a crew member's hands on site and lets them generate safety plans and log incidents in real time. It turns compliance from paperwork into something crews actually use.

Always improving

We review incidents and near-misses to close gaps, and we are actively working toward COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification to formalize the system we already run.

Non-Negotiables

Everyone goes home safe

The whole program exists for one reason. Every decision on site is measured against it.

Stop-work authority

Any worker can stop a task if it is not safe. No one is ever penalized for calling it.

The public comes first

Around live roads and busy sites, protecting the public is built into how our crews set up and work.

Documented and auditable

Plans, tickets, and logs are kept current so your prequalification and audits go smoothly.
